Service AlertsRider Capacity Restrictions Lifted on ART Buses Starting August 1: Starting Sunday, August 1, rider capacity restrictions will be lifted on all ART buses. Seats inside the buses will no longer be blocked off, and buses will not be limited to a certain number of passengers. If you see an ART bus that has the “Bus Full” sign displayed on the front between now and August 1, please call ART Customer Service at 703-228-7433 and let them know the bus number and route that is full. STAR Severe Weather Policy

During a major weather event, STAR will follow the Federal Government's operating status.

If Federal Government offices are closed for the day due to weather and/or hazardous road conditions:

  • All rides will be canceled with the exception of dialysis clients, and
  • The STAR Call Center will be closed.

If Federal Government offices open two hours late:

  • All rides before 10:00 a.m. will be canceled with the exception of dialysis clients, and
  • The STAR Call Center will open two hours late, at 9:00 a.m.

If Federal Government offices close early:

  • STAR will try to return all clients that had scheduled trips home in the system. STAR will try to transport dialysis clients on schedule. Other rides originating from home will be canceled.
  • The STAR Call Center will close two hours after the federal government offices close.

On weekends and holidays, if service must be reduced, a STAR Alert be sent and the Call Center phone line message will be updated.
