Ride Free on ART and STAR for Halloween
Passengers will be able to ride for free on all ART buses and STAR Zone 1 rides, for the Halloween celebrations.
On Saturday, October 31, 2026, Arlington Transit is offering an easier, completely free alternative to driving, with free fares on ART and Zone 1 rides for STAR.
What Riders Should Know
Arlington Transit will be fare free to help you leave the keys at home. Here is exactly what you need to know for your Halloween travels:
- Free ART Bus Rides: Fare-free travel applies to all fixed-route ART buses. Just hop on and ride to your destination without paying a dime.
- Free STAR Rides: Paratransit riders can travel completely free on all Zone 1 STAR trips, which includes any rides traveling entirely within Arlington.
- Plan Ahead: Transit schedules will run on normal operating hours, so check your regular route times before heading out.
Partnership for a Safer Halloween
We are proud to team up with the Arlington County Police Department and SoberRide to promote responsible celebrations across our community.
Arlington County Police Department officers will be out ensuring traffic safety and monitoring the roads. By choosing transit, you help them keep our streets safe for trick-or-treaters and pedestrians.
Additionally, we will be supporting the SoberRide initiative by providing alternative transportation options for anyone whose holiday plans include alcohol. If you are drinking, please do not get behind the wheel. Use ART, STAR, or a designated ride-share service to get home safely.
Plan your route today using the Arlington Transit trip planner, and have a safe, happy Halloween!
