Vote for your Favorite Bus Design

June 18, 2013

Voting for the ”ARTists for PAL Bus Design Contest” is now open! Arlington County middle and high school students were asked to create a design for the outside of an Arlington Transit - ART bus using the theme “Share Our Streets – Be a PAL,” Arlington’s biking, walking and driving safety initiative. Twenty-six designs were submitted and a committee narrowed the designs down to three finalists.

The three designs can be viewed at www.surveymonkey.com/s/ARTforPAL and the public can vote for their favorite one. The design with the most votes will be used to wrap one ART bus that will travel throughout the County.

Voting ends on Thursday, July 4, 2013, and only one vote per computer is allowed. The winning design will be announced later this summer.

All 26 of the designs received will be displayed inside ART buses later this summer for everyone to view.

About “Share Our Streets -- Be a PAL”

Part of Arlington County Board Chair J. Walter Tejada’s Moving Forward Together agenda includes the “Share Our Streets -- Be a PAL -- Compartamos Nuestras Calles, Seamos Amables safety initiative. The program strives to educate pedestrians, cyclists and drivers about the importance of sharing the streets and being a PAL:

Predictable – travel in a predictable way; don’t make sudden, unexpected moves

Alert – pay attention to your surroundings and to others around you

Lawful – obey the traffic laws, whether in a car, on a bike, or on foot

Whether you’re on two feet, two wheels or four wheels, we all need to share our streets safely.
