Stuff-an-ART Bus Food Drive Big Success!

October 2, 2013

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Stuff-a-Bus Food Drive a success! More than 4,700 pounds of food was collected over a three day period and will be donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC).

As part of Hunger Action Month in September, Arlington Transit and its operator, National Express, partnered with the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) and Giant Food to take action against hunger by challenging the community to “stuff an ART bus” full of non-perishable food items. The food drive was held September 27 - 29 at the Giant Food grocery store on the corner of Spout Run and Lee Highway.

All of the food collected was donated to the AFAC who will distribute it to the more than 1,500 families a week who rely on AFAC for free supplemental groceries.

Thank you to all of the staff, volunteers and those who donated food to make this event a great success!
