Riders Really Like ART!

December 20, 2013

The results for the 2013 ART Ridership Survey are in and they reveal that people like riding ART! Some of the key findings from the survey include:

  • 90 percent of those surveyed said that they were either very satisfied or satisfied with ART service.
  • Nearly 50 percent said they ride ART five times per week or more.
  • 66 percent said they take ART by choice rather than out of necessity.
  • 64 percent said that they were “very likely” to recommend ART to others
  • When compared with Metrorail, 75 percent of respondents rated ART as superior or the same in overall quality. This is notable since generally consumers view service like Metrorail as superior to local bus service.

Survey respondents also noted that they want more service frequency (shorter wait times at bus stops) and span (bus runs when you need it) so that riding ART is more convenient. Arlington Transit will keep this in mind when making schedule and route changes in the future.

The Southeastern Institute of Research and LDA Consulting conducted this year’s ridership survey, on behalf of Arlington County Commuter Services. More than 2,900 surveys were collected from a sample of passengers on all routes, both during weekday and weekend ride times. Results from this year’s study were compared to results from the 2008 ART Rider Study.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out a survey and thank you to everyone who rides ART!
