Help Stuff an ART Bus with 20,000 Lbs of Food!

September 4, 2013

September is Hunger Action Month. Join Arlington Transit and the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) in taking action against hunger by helping us fill an ART bus with non-perishable food items. All food received will be donated to the more than 1,500 families a week that rely on the AFAC for free supplemental groceries.

On September 27 - 29, do your grocery shopping at the Giant Food store located at the corner of Lee Highway and Spout Run. While you're there pick up some food items to donate and drop them off at the ART bus parked outside the store. You can also donate any non-perishable food items that you have at home. Volunteers will be on hand to suggest items to donate and answer any questions you have. Our goal is to fill an entire ART bus with food to donate to the AFAC. Help us reach this goal!

When: Friday, September 27 - Sunday, September 29, 2013

Where: Giant Food Grocery Store at 3115 Lee Highway -- the corner of Spout Run & Lee Highway

What to Donate: Non-perishable food items such as canned proteins, dry beans, rice, low-sodium soups and low sugar cereals.

We hope to see you there!
