Go Car Free for a Day!

August 16, 2012

August 16, 2012 -- Car Free Day will be celebrated on Saturday, September 22 this year. Park your car for the day and try using transit, biking or walking to get to where you need to go. Participants can sign an online pledge form and win some cool prizes, including an Apple iPad.

Going car free for a whole day can seem pretty daunting. Fortunately there are a lot of great resources that can help you get started:

CarFreeDiet.com provides tips and tools for leading a car-free or car-lite lifestyle.

ArlingtonTransit.com (we hope you're familiar with this one!) provides schedule and route information for the ART bus system in Arlington.

WMATA.com provides information for Metrobus and rail.

BikeArlington.com includes a map of all the bike routes in Arlington as well as safety and riding tips.

WalkArlington.com provides tips and walking maps of Arlington.

Try going car free for the day on September 22. Who knows, you may like it and want to try going car free for a week, a month or maybe longer!
