ART on Layar Reality Browser

Layar screenshot This free tool works with Android devices and iPhones (3GS and newer). The technology is called "Augmented Reality," and allows users to look through their phone as if they were going to take a picture, and see superimposed information about their surroundings.

Layar uses a combination of the phone’s camera, compass and GPS data to identify the user’s location, retrieve useful data about the user’s surroundings, and overlay that information over the camera view.

The ART data layer shows the direction and distance to ART stops, and provides ART RealTime arrival information. Users can also view bus stop locations in list or map views.

There's also data for Capital Bikeshare locations and WalkArlington Walkabout points of interest. See the ART on Layar page for more information.
