Transportation Benefit Extended
Good news! The $230 per month transit benefit has been extended for another year! On Friday, December 17, President Obama signed the legislation extending the benefit until December 31, 2011.
The benefit, which helps employees cover their commuting transportation costs, was part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and was set to expire at the end of 2010, reducing the benefit to $120 per month. If the benefit had expired, it would have impacted public transit users nationwide and cost them more money to use buses, subways and other modes of public transportation to commute to work.
Do you use the transit benefit? Would you have been greatly impacted if it hadn't been extended? Let us know.
