Thank You for Making Stuff-a-Bus a Success!

September 16, 2015

ART BusThank you to everyone who helped make this past weekend's Stuff-a-Bus events a huge success! A grand total of 8,166 pounds of food was collected over a three day period! The food drive at the Shirley Park Giant brought in 4,017 pounds of food and the event at the Virginia Square Giant brought in 4,149 pounds of food. All of the food collected has been donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC).

As part of Hunger Action Month in September, Arlington Transit and its operator, National Express, has partnered with AFAC and Giant Foods to take action against hunger by challenging the community to stuff an ART bus full of food donations. All of the food collected will be donated to the AFAC who will distribute the food to the 2,200 families a week who rely on AFAC for free supplemental groceries.

A second Stuff-a-Bus event will be held the weekend of September 26 at the Giant Food Store in Lyon Village. Please stop by, say hi and donate some food!

Saturday, September 26 - Sunday, September 27

10 am - 6 pm (until 4 pm on Sunday)

Giant Foods at Lyon Village -- 3118 Lee Hwy, Arlington VA
