Talking Buses?

Next time you're in DC don't be surprised if you hear "Pedestrians, the bus is turning" being broadcast from a Metrobus. WMATA is currently testing a program that alerts pedestrians when a bus is about to turn. The message is broadcast in both English and Spanish and can apparently be heard from several blocks away.

The prorgam is intended to help keep pedestrians safer when a bus turns a corner. Currently there are a limited number of Metrobuses testing out the program with plans to expand to more buses in the future.

Do you think this is a program ART should start using?
