ART Canned Food Drive a Success!
December 20, 2011 -- The ART bus canned food drive was a success! A total of 376 items were collected from ART bus riders who put their donations in boxes that were on board ART buses and at the Commuter Stores. All donations have been given to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) and will be distributed to families in Arlington.
AFAC is Arlington County's food bank, dedicated to providing supplemental groceries to Arlington residents who cannot afford them. On average, AFAC serves 1,400 Arlington families (2,000 adults and 1,000 children) per week.
Thank you to everyone who donated and made the food drive a success. We couldn't have done it without you and we appreciate your generosity. Happy Holidays!
